November 1 – National Author’s Day

So evidently, today, November 1, is NATIONAL AUTHOR’S DAY. While I didn’t even know that was a thing, I’m totally down with celebrating it! So in honor of all my friends who are writers already and those who aspire. Those who are starting NaNoWriMo today and those who write daily, I salute you all!

And if you’re wondering how best to celebrate, there are a number of ways (in addition to the few listed at the above NationalToday.com link)

  1. Take your favorite writer out for a coffee, meal or a well-deserved vacation!
  2. Post your admiration or gratitude on social media for how much their work means to you!
  3. Buy a book for yourself or someone else

Mostly, just appreciate that there are people out there, right now, with stories in their heads, getting ready to sit down at their typewriters and bleed.

  1. Hi Jaq – I also reached out via Twitter. I’ve somehow found myself in the position of editor for several people on Twitter who want to be authors. I’m all over everyone wanting to write! I have a template for providing editing feedback which dates from my days at Imagine Entertainment when we were all encouraged to read all screenplays submitted and provide structured feedback.

Now then. After providing structured feedback on characters, plot, arc, etc I’ve now got to the point with a couple of people where they’re looking to self-publish. Do you have contacts I can use? I only know some small-scale hand-made bookmakers, which will probably work for 1 of the people I’m working with, but anything larger?

Thanks! Hope you and the Wifey and Monkey are doing fab.

    Regards, Sharon.
