Day one… in brief

So… My plane took off on time at 11:30am and thankfully I was on board. Not that there was any danger, really, but nonetheless, I was safely ensconced in my seat as we left Vegas for the wilds of Minnesota (not the Wild of Minnesota, which would have also been cool). Minneapolis, from the air, is beautiful! It’s green and lush and full of interesting architecture Continue reading “Day one… in brief”

Cell Phone Blues…

Well… Sprint sucks. In order to forward my phone it would cost me .20¢ a minute and I just ain’t gonna pay. Therefore, if you want to get hold of me for the next three months, please call 702 HALF ASS (702-425-3277).

If I don’t respond, I promise I’ll call you back as soon as I can (but remember, there is a time difference.

By the way, I leave for the airport in 6 hours.

Packing…

Last night I took everything I’ve purchased, assembled and gathered into the backpack and wore the blasted thing around for an hour or so. Not too bad! I think I’ve got everything I need and the moment of truth is fast approaching

Hopefully the next post will have a picture test.

New Number?

Well…

So I’m on Skype (skidspoppe for those interested) and since I’m gonna be teaching a class while I’m over there in Europe I figured I should have a number where my students can get hold of me (and friends, too) so I got a Skype number so you can all call me and leave messages or talk to me if I happen to be on the computer. Continue reading “New Number?”

Secrets…

Been having an interesting experience lately. A couple of girls I’m involved with, emotionally if not romantically, have needed me recently. And each time I’ve been there. And each time I’ve been a secret. Each of these girls has a boy friend and it’s not me. And each of them I’d date but instead I’m just the good friend.

Now, I’m okay with that…to a point. Where I’m having a hard time is that even though I’m there, no one knows what I’m doing. I’m the secret friend. I’m the one who gets denied and asked to leave as soon as the crisis is over. Continue reading “Secrets…”

Two Weeks and counting…

Two weeks from Thursday the adventure begins. Of course, it begins a little earlier than I’d like since I have to stop at the clinic on my way to the airport to get the second of my three hepatitis B&C vaccinations.

As it stands now, I think I have everything I’ll need (except a power adapter/converter) but I’m meeting with a friend who does a lot of backpacking who said he’d lend me anything I was shy on. Continue reading “Two Weeks and counting…”

The die is cast…

Well, I just did it. I purchased my ticket to Malmo Sweden (landing in Copenhagen Denmark) via Minneapolis and Reykjavik. I leave on May 29th at 11:30am, arriving in Denmark at 12:45pm the next day.

I also picked up some more gear. Everything is coming together. This is getting exciting and a little bit scary. Or maybe a little scary and a bit exciting!

Either way, I’m on my way!

Hello world!

Okay gang… this is where I’m gonna be posting all about my adventures in Europe. If you want to keep up, here’s the place to do it.

You can comment and give me tips and advice, or you can just passively read and follow along.

Either way, I hope to update here on a fairly regular basis.

Review: Zombie Strippers

I’m gonna start out by saying I loved this film. Let me just get it out of the way now. Zombie Strippers is a fun, frolicking fest of undead female flesh! It is packed with enough laughs, nudity and philosophy to make it required viewing for any college student’s weekend late night plans. Not since Chopper Chick in Zombie Town have I laughed this hard at an intentionally funny horror film. For sheer entertainment value, Zombie Strippers ranks among the top films of the year.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying this is a great film – or even a good one, just that it is a blast to watch and if you go in with the attitude that everyone involved was looking to have some fun and make something for you to enjoy, you will walk out pleasantly surprised and with a huge smile on your face.
